Steve Phillips, the former ESPN baseball analyst and New York Mets general manager appeared on the “Today Show” this morning to talk about his sex addiction. He was fired from ESPN following a scandal over an affair with 22-year-old ESPN production assistant Brooke Hundley. Phillips said he knew last August that he needed help while he was having an affair with Brooke Hundley.
He spoke publicly for the first time since he left the Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services clinic in Hattiesburg, Miss. Steve said,
“I couldn’t stop myself from doing the things I was doing — even knowing the consequences. All of that is in the past. My focus is moving forward, trying to save my family.”
Steve was the general manager of the Mets from 1997-2003. He worked at ESPN from 2005 through October.
