Carlos Hathcock was born on May 20, 1942 in Arkansas. After the separation of his parents he was brought up by her grandmother in rural Arkansas. He started hunting and shooting fake Nazis by pretending to be a soldier with his little gun so that in the younger age he would hunt with the rifle of his father that he brought from Europe during Second World War. He often took his dog in the woods and thinks himself to be a soldier and hunt fake Nazis. He was crazy to be a Marine since his child hood. In the age of 17 on May 20, 1959, he was engaged with the Marine Corps.
On November 20, 1962 Hathcock got married with Jo Winstead. They have a child named Carlos Norman Hathcock, III. Later on Carlos Norman Hathcock, III was enlisted in the Marine Corps and was retired from the Marine Corps as Gunnery sergeant. He was an excellent shooter like his father and became the member of the Board of Governors of the Marine Corps Distinguished Shooters Association. Being an excellent shooter he won many shooting championships. In 1966 Hathcock was deployed in Vietnam as a Military Police and later on sniper. During the Vietnam War Hathcock killed 93 North Vietnamese Army . His rank was fourth in the most confirmed kills list for an American sniper.
The North Vietnamese Army put a reward on his life for killing so many Vietnams soldiers. Hathcock was called by Veitnam Army officials as Lông Tr?ng(white feather)as he used to put a white feather in the band of his hat. he used to kill his enemy by taking him in his riffle scope keeping an eye on him and then killing him.
He said in his book that he like to shoot, love to hunt but never like to kill anybody.
