Cloris Leachman, the actress who won both Oscar and Emmy awards will appear at the 10th annual Port Townsend Film Festival as a celebrity guest, the festival organizers announced on Tuesday.
In this year’s festival, the role as Ruth Popper played by Cloris Leachman in the movie “The Last Picture Show” will be celebrated. Terry Tennesen said it was her Oscar-winning role.
The 83-year-old actress also worked in TV’s “Malcolm in the Middle,” in the movie version of “The Beverly Hillbillies.”, and in cinema’s “History of the World, Part 1″
The comedy-thriller “High Anxiety” (1977) will be played as a free outdoor movie during the festival. This movie was directed by Mel Brooks and I this movie Leachman played Nurse Diesel. The festival will take place next month from September 24 to 27.
Festival director, Terry Tennesen said,
“It should be absolutely great to have her here,”
He added,
“I hear she is quite the spitfire, so this should be fun.”
Tennesen further said,
“Cloris is willing to take part in all of the events, from speaking with the high school students to the actor panels.”
She was to appear in last year’s festival but she canceled it as she took part in “Dancing with the Stars”, a dancing TV reality show.
Leachman is truly a legend and she worked film and television for more than six decades.
