Conrad Burns

Conrad Ray Burns was born on January 25, 1935, he is a former United States Senator from Montana. The former Montana senator suffered a stroke, he has been hospitalized in Washington, D.C., according to the Associated Press. Burns was only the second Republican to represent Montana in the Senate since the passage in 1913 of the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution. He is the longest-serving Republican senator in Montana history.
On Wednesday at about 9 p.m., his wife found him in critical condition at their home in Arlington. Burns was taken to the Virginia Hospital Center, later he was shifted to a Washington, D.C. hospital. Burns, 74, suffered an abnormal heart rhythm, and had a stroke, doctors told his family.
Montana Sen. Jon Tester said in statement,
“Sharla’s and my thoughts and prayers are with Conrad, Phyllis and their family. We join all Montanans in wishing him a speedy recovery.”
Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-At Large) issued the following statement,
“Jan and I have been in close touch with Conrad’s family since learning he was admitted to the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. When I saw Conrad this weekend, he looked as strong as ever, and if I know anything about old marines like him, they’re fighters. “
