Darius Rucker
A night to remember for Darius Rucker as he won the New Artist of the year award at the Country Music Association Awards 2009. Recently he is performing as a solo singer but before that he was the lead singer for Hootie and Blowfish.
Its a great honor for Darius Rucker to became the second African Asian to win the New Artist of the Year award. This award brought cheers and happiness among all his countrymen and they are really proud of him. Country Music Association Award is a prestigious award and only one other African Asian besides Rucker had achieved it.
His debut album was critically acclaimed and successful. In 1990s he performed with Hootie and Blowfish as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist and that time he was well recognized in the music industry. The debut solo album of Darius Rucker named “Learn to Live” was appreciated by his fans. Country music charts were rocking with his debut album tracks.
Many among the award winners were speechless because intensity of emotions were on a high note. Rucker also expressed his feelings to be in the list of award winners. At the time of his acceptance speech he said,
“What a year! First of all, to the fans, thank y’all for accepting me. And I think most importantly, to country radio, you took a chance on a pop singer from Charleston, S.C. Thank you so much for that!”
