Film critics awards

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) was founded in 1975, and this association consists of the members who are working in the print and electronic media of Los Angeles. These professionals are the film critics and are Los Angeles based. Each December, there is voting by LAFCA members on the year’s Achievement Awards, devoting screen distinction on both sides of the screen.
LAFCA’s annual awards ceremony is held in mid January and during this ceremony Plaques of gratitude are offered to winners. Besides giving each year terrific cinematic awards, LAFCA has pointed out that industry should look back and pay tribute to the persons who have distinguished performances. Those persons are the veterans of the industry.This tribute is given in the October in the form of Annual Career Achievement.
LAFCA has also pointed out to look forward to the fresh, gifted talent in the form of its annual New Generation Award.
One of the contributions of LAFCA is that over the past three decades many film panels and various events has been sponsored and even hosted by it. Various Los Angeles film organizations have been donated funds by LAFCA especially the concerning is the preservation of the films. It is also told to the LAFCA members collectively to take up the causes about which they felt obsessive that includes drafting proper protests against the censorship and colorization in order to lend their support to contentious films.
