Yesterday, an earthquake struck Guatemala with a magnitude of 6.0. Although, the intensity of the quake was very high but fortunately there are no reports about injuries and damage. This one is the latest after the major Haiti Strike that ruined the whole Haiti. Recent estimations by Red Cross say that 200,000 people have been dead and a very large number is injured. Many orphans are looking towards world for basic needs like food, water and shelter. Some American families have adopted almost 15 children.
In recent weeks, the American Geological Survey including a 6.5 magnitude quake that struck offshore Northern California has recorded many strikes. A strike with 4.0 magnitudes was recorded by USGS in Oklahoma on 15th January 2010. Another quake with magnitude 4.1 was recorded at the San Francisco Bay Area.
Reports say that at 9:40 in the morning, a serious quake rattled Guatemala and El Salvador that was originated below a distance of 103 km from Middle America. The Central-American country is the home of approximately fourteen million people and it covers an area of one hundred and ten thousands square kilometer. The area is considered biodiversity hot spot due to its biological importance and its alone ecosystem.
The country is split up into three regions by two chains of mountains from west to east. These three areas variegate in landscape, altitude and climate. Besides this, Volan Tajumulco is the highest point of Central America that is approximately four thousand two hundred and twenty meters up above the sea level.
