Max Baucus And Melodee Hanes
December 5, 2009
Max Baucus, chairman of Senate Finance Committee, recommended her girlfriend’s name for next U.S Attorney. The romantic scene between Montana Democrat and former state office director started in the summer of 2008 after Baucus separated from his wife. However, Melodee Hanes withdrew saying she was not appropriate for the post.
However, Matsdorf claims that the senator had sent not one but three names and all were based on qualifications and merit.
“Senator Baucus recommended each of the three candidates based solely on qualifications, and merit, knowing whichever one the White House selected would serve Montana well,” Matsdorf said.
He also reported that both decided to withdraw name by mutual consent because they wanted to live together in Washington. It was back in 2002 when Hanes first started doing work for him. Baucus was first elected in 1973 to the Montana House and after that in 1974 and in 1976 too. In 1978, he was first elected as the senator of USA when he was just 36 years old.
Last year, Baucus and her ex-wife declared that they were wiling to split up their marriage of 25 years. In their statement they said that “they parted ways with amicably and with mutual respect”.
