The results of the Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 that took place on October 18, 2009, are out. In the race that held on the streets of San Francisco, more than 20,000 women participated. Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 was the sixth annual installment of the marathon. The Women’s Marathon is a campaign from Nike which is conducted to raise funds for the treatment leukemia affected people. The main objective of the Women’s Marathon was to help Leukemia Lymphoma Society by raising their funds to fourteen million dollars. The courses for the marathon had kept unchanged. The race started at San Francisco’s Union Square and finished at north of the Great Highway. During the race the runners has also passed the Transamerica building, the San Francisco Bay and the Aquatic Park.

The Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 had taken place at two levels. The levels were the half marathon and the full marathon. The winner of the full marathon was Caitlin Smith of California, while the half marathon was won by Portland’s Carrie Dimoff. Full marathon winner Caitlin Smith finished the race in a time of 02:58:32 and Carrie Dimoff passed the finishing line in a time of 01:25:26.

The Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 was described most of the runners as a lot of healthy competition. Silver chains inscribed with ‘run like a girl.’ were distributed among the runners by Tiffany and Co. at the end of the race.
