Peter Townshend
English rock guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and author Peter Dennis Blandford “Pete” Townshend was born on 19th May 1945. He is better known as the guitarist and songwriter for The Who. Townshend is a part of “The Who” for more then forty years. During this time the rock band has become one of the most influential bands of the rock era. Rock band “The Who” is also considered “possibly the greatest live band ever”. Townshend is the primary song writer of the band .Pete Townshend has written over one hundred songs for the band’s eleven studio albums. He is also an accomplished singer and keyboard player. He has played many other instruments such as synthesizer, bass guitar, drums and banjo in his solo albums. In the list of Best Guitarists in The New Book of Rock, Pete Townshend was ranked on the #3 and in the Rolling Stone magazine list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” he was on the #50. Recently, he performed with his band in the Super Bowl halftime show.
