Two-wheeled, self-balancing and battery operated small in-fact tiny vehicle Segway is set to hit the Indian market next month. This is a product invented and made by the American entrepreneur Dean Kamen. Segway Inc. is joining hands with “Bird Group” in an order to start sale in Indian market. Segway’s Voice President Jason Baton says, they are expecting a huge business in India and they are confident about there successful start.
The product was first launched in December 2001 and till now; they have sold just 50,000 units. Now, Indian market is their biggest hope. They will enter in Indian market with two models i.e. X2 and I2. X2 is used for outdoor activities while I2 is limited just for indoor activities.
Bird Group is planning to import the product in parts and they are planning to assemble it in Gurgaon as fully assemble products generally have higher import duties.
