Shirley Manson

The lead singer of the alternative rock band Garbage, Shirley Manson was born on August 26, 1966 in Edinburgh, Scotland. By profession, Shirley is a musician and actress. Through her forthright style and distinctive voice she not only gained media attention but also won the heart of her fans.
In 1980 she started her musical career and in a short passage of time she made her place in the music world and multiple Grammy Award nominated “Garbage” invited her to record an album with it. Shirley began to write solo material in 2006. Manson’ first musical experience was with local Edinburgh acts The Wild Indians. When she was working with it she was approached by Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie’s lead Martin Metcalfe to join them. Manson joined the band and her first release with the band was YTS release of “Death of a Salesman”.
Manson not only worked with her band but she also worked with artists out of her projects. She recited a verse of a long poem for Chris Connelly album and recorded duets with Eric Avery. Recently she recorded an album for a charity purpose. Manson’s mother was also a singer who sang with a big band. Manson has also used her profile for many charity purposes. In 2001 she became an ambassador for the M•A•C AIDS Fund and very next year with the launch of VIVAMAC IV lipstick it became possible that all the earning of this goes to charity. In 2008 Manson became a member of Pablove Foundation, a charity founded by Dangerbird Records head Jeff Castelaz.

“I think it’s a great thing to have failed in life and then pulled yourself up by the boot straps and actually done something, because then you appreciate it more. “
