Mount Everest
Who was the first lady who conquered the highest mountain peak of the world i.e. Mount Everest, for the very first time in history? Mount Everest is situated between the border of Nepal and China (or more accurately, it is situated in Nepal) and it is considered the highest mountain peak of the world that is approximately 8850 meters tall. The second largest mountain is K-2 (official name is Goodwin Austin). It is situated in Pakistan and it owns a height of 8614 meters. Mount Everest is a part of a long mountain-series known as “Himalaya” while K-2 is part of another series named “Karakoram”.
So, the first lady who ever climbed up Mount Everest was Junko Tabei who made her dreams true in 1975. She was a Japanese student and a mother. She also wrote two books in which she shared her experiences of Mount Everest with people and told how she managed to climb up on the world’s largest mountain. The names of her books are “Everest Mama-san” and “Yama-o-tanoshimu – Enjoying Mountains”. Both books are in Japanese.
Another woman who succeeded climbing on world’s largest peak was Bachanti Pal. Bachanti was an Indian lady and she had conquered Everest on 23rd May, 1984, following standard South East Ridge route.
Besides these, there are also many daring men and women who conquered the world’s greatest peaks like Ed Viesturs, blind Erik Weinhenmayer and Korean Oh Eun Sun. Vicky Jack is the name of oldest lady who climbed Mount Everest recently.
