Willie Davis

Los Angeles Dodgers will miss you Willie Davis. Willie Davis was a speedy center fielder who got owner to collect two World Series rings, three Gold Gloves during a time span of 14 seasons he spent with Los Angeles Dodgers. Last day, 69-year-old Willie died in his Burbank home, possibly by natural death as police was pretty sure about it and they had neglected the involvement of any foul play. He was one of the most talented players of Dodgers.

Dodger’s owner Frank McCourt issued a statement in which he showed his sympathies with Willie Davis and said that he was a great man and player who felt proud of being a Dodger. He said that he would be missed and Dodgers’ sincere thoughts were with his children during that difficult time.

The death news spread quickly through the Dodgers’ spring-training complex, where the team was playing a Cactus League game with Colorado Rockies. Maury Wills, the teammate of Willie Davis, walked out from the team office to the stadium and made an announcement about the sad incident. He paid his teammate a tribute and said that they both respected each other.

Manager Joe Torre reminds him as a dangerous opponent who was very dangerous on the basepaths. He said that Willie had always been a young man in his eyes because of the way he used to move so easily. He hoped that he would march to a better place.

The teams’ Hall of Fame Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrin expressed great grief on the sad incident saying he was very, very nice person. He said that he used to take him out to dinner quite often. He said that he was a very, very special person for him.

Surely, Willie Davis, you will be remembered by the generations.
